And now, the latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.
1) Soho: Though we feel like it's been endangered for years, there's a fresh real estate listing out there for the lot at Spring and Wooster that houses that weird flea market. One option: a glassy built-to-suit building that could go up five stories.
2) Garment District: A panel of fashion industry experts led by moderator Tim Gunn (of Project Runway fame) discussed the future of the shrinking Garment District on Tuesday night. One panelist warned that "without action New York will become a city of bankers and brokers." C'mon, surely some of us bloggers will still stick around.
3) Midtown: Clothier Emanual Ungaro abandoned its Maison Avenue flagship store for a subterranean space in the Plaza Hotel's new mini-mall. Er, that might have been a bad call.
4) Meatpacking District: Sephora plans on opening a MePa megastore that will stay open late to cater to tipsy clubbers. Talk about knowing your audience!
