World Cup Pop-Ups; Burberry Does Bleecker; More!

And now, the latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) Nolita: So there's this World Cup pop-up shop on Mulberry Street called Play Beautiful (above) that had to un-pop because of a Mercedez Benz event but will soon be popping again to the steady drone of vuvuzelas. Just another day in Nolita's wacky retail scene.

2) West Village: Having conquered Madison Avenue and the Upper West Side, Burberry Brit?an offshoot of the storied Burberry brand?is coming to Bleecker Street, taking over for an old antiques shop. Gentrification? Hardly. Try anti-gentrification!

3) Garment District: A panel of experts tackled the conundrum of turning the Garment District into more of a "Creative District." Say wha? Here's how Racked puts it: "More specifically, how these creative communities come to fruition, how they become 'cool,' and—most importantly—how to make the Garment District cool enough to raise awareness, attract designers, and increase orders without raising rents, attracting yuppies, and increasing real estate pressures."
