One Fairchild Buyer Bags a 3BR at a 33 Percent Discount

Closings at Tribeca's Karl Fischer product the Fairchild began late last month, and with closings set to wrap up by the end of June, we've been keeping an eye on the deals as they hit city record. All of the units sold so far have closed at discounts, in the minor 3.7 percent to 10.1 percent range. Except one! Apartment #5D, listed for $3.85 million, recently sold for 2,577,547 million, a 33 percent discount. The apartment is a 3BR, 2.5BA that, at 2,053 square feet, sold for $1,255/foot. A tipster notes that the unit may also have been available for rent. The tipster asks: "Water views etc making it one of the best units in the building. What's the deal with that sale?" Since the buyer's hidden behind a company name, we don't know! Any theories?
