Apparently creative protest signage works: the city has scaled back its plan to limit art vendors in city parks. The new rule, to be released today, will cut the number of vendors in Central Park, Union Square Park, Battery Park and the High Line to 140?still less than the current 300, but a big change from the original proposal of only 81. The space will be award daily to whoever shows up first, which should make this more interesting. [NYT; previously]
