Lowdown: The reinvention of prewar condo 845 West End Avenue hasn't really been on our radar screen, but now that the project has hit the market, we're paying attention. The building (where asking rents were previously between $4K and nearly $11K) traded hands in summer 2008 for a little over $83 million and was redeveloped with an attempt at bringing in some new luxury amenities (playroom, bike storage) while keeping that pre-war feel. Will the addition of in-unit washer-dryers and radiant heated floors to the crown molding and classic floorplans fetch the kinds of prices the project is hoping for, or will the new development sheen on classic condos bother fans of both?
