An extension of the 1982 Loft Law passed the state legislature in early June, but Mayor Bloomberg is now hoping the governor will block the law. That law gives residential tenants' rights to tenants of buildings zoned only for commercial or industrial use, which means their landlords will now have to meet residential codes. Bloomberg comes down on the landlord side with the argument that the bill would hurt manufacturing. [NYO; previously]
