At 166 Perry, It's Not Looking So Good for the Flippers

New, 5 comments

The first-floor siblings at 166 Perry Street, the glassy spaceship from Asymptote, don't have much in common. At #1A, the buyer paid $3.054 million for the place in February and recently put it back on the market asking $5 million. Guess we know which family member got all the confidence, because its neighbor, #1B, just sold at a nearly 34 percent discount. The 2,526-square-foot, 1BR, 2.5BA unit was asking $2.65 million, but the buyer, the trustee for the R Hernreich 1987 Trust, paid just $1,756,481.25 for the apartment in a deal that closed in April and hit public record yesterday afternoon. Granted, #1B's floorplan porn is less impressive than its neighbor's, and #1B went into contract in the weaker market of December. Still, things aren't looking so good for our flipper friend next door.
