Developer Wants Greenpoint School to Graduate to Condo

New, 14 comments

The school-to-condo switch may not be going so well up in Harlem, but that's not stopping other developers from reaching into the adaptive reuse files. Next up is Greenpoint's 535 Leonard Street (above), most recently the home of the Polish Legion of American Veterans and, before that, PS 59. Crain's reports that a developer has snapped up the site, which includes two courtyards on either side of the building, for $2.3 million with plans to take it condo. The developer, MDIM LLC, wants to start construction early in the fall on a planned 18 units. Thoughts, Greenpointers?
