In a Vanity Fair survey of 52 architects and experts (including 11 Pritzker winners and eight deans of major architecture schools), Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Bilbao has been named the best building of the past 30 years. Renzo Piano's Menil Collection came in second, Peter Zumthor’s Thermal Baths at Vals third, Norman Foster’s HSBC Building in Hong Kong fourth, and Tadao Ando’s Church of the Light in Osaka fifth. Rem Koolhaas received the second most votes (after Gehry), but spread over six of his projects. Gehrmeister FTW, literally. [VF]
