Bowling Alley/NYC Theme Park Coming to Times Square; More!

New, 1 comment

This week's top dish from Eater NY, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

1) Midtown: When the big new Bowlmor Lanes bowling alley opens in the old New York Times building in Times Square it will have sections and laned themed towards New York City life and culture, incuding, Eater reports, "Central Park, 1960's Times Square, Chinatown, the subway, Downtown, the Brooklyn Bridge, Uptown, Tribeca Lofts, the World of Warhol, and a speakeasy." Amazing renderings and captions in the gallery above.

2) West Village: Sex And The City set dressing Magnolia Bakery can't install it's new air conditioner because of the Department of Buildings and the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Argh, they're such Mirandas!

3) Murray Hill: "A Beer at..." columnist Robert Simonson visited fratty tri-level Murray Hill shitshow Tonic East, and, well, you know this is going to be good. Sample: "Tonic East on Third Avenue is what I call a loudmouth bar."

4) East Village: Speaking of shitshows, Superdive, the Avenue A bar that refuses to die, is starting up beer pong and wet t-shirt contests. This surprises no one.
