Eventi Sweats to the Oldies; NoMad Identifies Itself

New, 3 comments

WHOLESALE DISTRICT?Though its public plaza, futuristic food court, spa and other amenities aren't yet open, Kimpton Hotels' 292-room Eventi has been checking in guests since mid-May. (The 300 or so luxury rentals on top of the tower aren't ready either.) Today Eventi held a grand opening event, and woo boy, it was a wacky scene. There were politicians, Buddhist blessings, tributes to the nearby Flower Market, art installations, a real Bebe Neuwirth and a fake Richard Simmons (above). Rooms start at $275/night, but the pricier suites (we're talking $3,500 and $6,000 per night) have some cool features, like dining tables that double as billiards tables, and private terraces. Did we mention there's a Director of Pet Relations? Yeah, interesting place. [CurbedWire Staff]

WHOLESALE DISTRICT?Speaking of new hotels in a neighborhood yet to be officially named (though Eventi is pimping North Chelsea), the NoMad (another contender!) at 1170 Broadway is still a million years from opening, but at least there's all sorts of signs and paperwork up! Er, including a partial Stop Work Order, from back in January, for a frozen standpipe. Hopefully it's thawed out by now! Ahead, a collage!
