Futuristic East River Greenhouses Should Cheer Al Gore Right Up

New, 9 comments

How are young architecture firms keeping busy during these lean times in New York City? A couple of ways! According to the Archpaper, some particularly rebellious whippersnappers are designing "secret, illegal apartments" in warehouses that flout zoning restrictions, while others are working on crazy research projects like the one seen above, from Phu Hoang. It's Foodopolis, a series of interlocking greenhouses on the waterfront that puts some loco in the locavore movement. Want to see what's inside?

Not bad, but it definitely needs an upscale flea market or Danny Meyer restaurant to catch on with the public.
