Master rigger William Rapetti, charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and reckless endangerment after the collapse of a tower crane on East 51st Street that killed seven people, was acquitted of all counts today. The prosecutors claimed that Rapetti failed to secure the crane, but the defense argued that its March 2008 collapse was due to poor welding and engineering work that was not Rapetti's responsibility.
