In a matter of a few weeks 44,000 college freshman who are not from New York will descend on the city.The New York Times Education section did a piece on the mindset of the incoming freshman who are new to Manhattan and it's unforgiving ways. In a hilarious part of the piece a local New Yorker yells "You don't really live here...you're just visiting for four years!"
at an N.Y.U tour guide. Most of us wouldn't be quite so abrasive about it, but anyone who is downtown early September can see the distinct change that takes place, mainly by the swarms of incoming New School and NYU students marching up and down 2nd Avenue and St. Marks Place
