There's conflict at Community Board 8 over whether or not to pursue landmark status for a block of East 94th and 95th Streets called "Hellgate Hill." Mostly the Upper East Siders are upset that such a decision would be made while they're in the Hamptons: "One speaker said that there is 'no unique sense of place' between East 94th and East 95th streets, comprised of architecturally conflicting high-rises and brownstones. Others claimed that the summer was not an appropriate time to make such a decision, while so many residents are vacationing." [Our Town]
