Lower East Side's Son of Thor Wields a Glass Hammer

New, 18 comments

It might just be coincidence that the facade of Norfolk Street's Son of Thor has been revealed just as buzz is building for Kenneth Branagh's big screen Thor flick, but we wouldn't count out the all-powerful Hollywood publicity machine as being somehow involved. We read Variety! Tipped off by Bowery Boogie, we headed over to 115 Norfolk Street to get a look at the latest LES creation from architects Grzywinski+Pons, who also designed The Hotel on Rivington nearby (hence, the Son of Thor nickname). What did we find? Glass, glass and more glass, which is what was promised all along, although in a far more transparent package. So what suddenly turned this into a suburban office park project? Only Odin knows.
