PARK SLOPE, STATEN ISLAND, DO BRO?Though the headlines heading into today's Landmarks Preservation Commission meeting were mostly about the extension of Park Slope Historic District (and indeed, the plan was calendared for a future vote), Staten Island got some serious love from the commission, too. In all, nine Shaolin buildings were discussed, with two winning landmark designation: the Christ Church complex in New Brighton, and the National Guard armory/medieval fortress in Castleton Corners (above). There was also a hearing for the old Brooklyn Union Gas Company headquarters at 180 Remsen Street in Downtown Brooklyn, which is headed for designation. Read all about it on the press release, available on the LPC website. [LPC/CurbedWire Inbox]
HARLEM?Construction is now complete and a TCO has been served to PS90, that cool condo conversion of an abandoned old public school up on 148th Street in Harlem. Closings and move-ins are slated for later this month. [CurbedWire Inbox]
