Fresh Penthouse Listing Tests Cammeyer's Comeback

New, 10 comments

The CORE Group is the fourth brokerage to take on the challenge of selling the converted condos at Chelsea's 650 Sixth Avenue, and the third to change the building's name. Now known as The Cammeyer?a tribute to a shoe store that was once in the Ladies' Mile building?the development has been getting lots of positive press about sales momentum since making the marketing switch from white-box galleries to historic lofts. Now comes another test: CORE has brought one of the building's crown jewels back to the market.

The 3BR/3BA penthouse, #PHC, is asking $4.995 million, more than double the next priciest listing in the building. At 2,134 square feet, that's a price of $2,340/sqft, not including the cellar storage room and pair of terraces, both of which are pretty darn big. According to StreetEasy, the penthouse has been on and off the market since 2007, first asking $4.645 million. That's right, the price has actually gone up since those glory days. Well, it's also gone down: The penthouse was also once asking $5.595 million.

Unfortunately the CORE listing is a little light on the real estate porn, but those looking to get reacquainted can check out the floorplan. Fourth time's the charm?
