The Empire State Building's war against the proposed 15 Penn Plaza skyscraper is getting more heated as the City Council gets ready to weigh in on the skyline hogger. The ESB's operators commissioned a survey that shows a majority of New Yorkers think 15 Penn will screw up postcards, and suggests that land use decisions should, like, be crowdsourced or something. They also took out a full-page ad in the NYT calling on the Council to reject or amend the proposal. Maybe the 15 Penn people can swap land with the mosque people and both ridiculous development controversies can go away forever. [NYDN; Gothamist]
