Sailing Meets Sewage on the Long Island City Riviera

New, 3 comments

Newtown Creek may be icky, but marinas are expensive! Which might be why pleasure crafts have been spotted docked in the polluted industrial waterway between Brooklyn and Queens that's bound for Superfund status. The Newtown Pentacle blog decided to wade into this sticky (literally!) situation, starting with a warning directed at the seaman that they're putting themselves "in mortal and existential danger" by docking in the creek. Whoa, do those things have wi-fi?

Newtown Pentacle seems to believe that these boats are the playthings of Long Island City's nouveau riche and wonders why the Coast Guard hasn't been called in. Like they want to step foot in that cesspool?
