Governors Island just finished hosting Civil War weekend, where groups of reenactors set up camp, do musket drills, and sell pickled eggs. While we would expect this event to be of interest to Jeremiah of Vanishing New York, it reminded him a little too much of...Brooklyn: "It reminded me...of people who pickle things and put them in jars with labels that look old but aren't old then sell them at the Brooklyn Flea, or who hawk hunks of rough-hewn soap at the Renegade Craft Fair.
