Lowdown: Why name a luxury residential building for the longtime business it replaced (Superior Ink, American Thread Building, etc.) when you can name it for a neighborhood's entire flailing lifeblood! And so, here comes The Industry, seemingly out of nowhere. Back in 2008, liQcity reported that this site near Court Square, where a warehouse was demolished, was going to be the project that the Silvercup team pushed ahead with after the studio's massive expansion plan was shelved. And would you look at that, the thing got built! And business is a-boomin'.

By that we mean that the sales office opened last weekend. We hope to have a peek inside The Industry soon, but for now, a handful of renderings and floorplans will have to do. Units range from studios to 3BRs, and in true industrial fashion, appliances aren't quite up to the Viking and Miele level. But there are fancy frills to be had, like bathrooms with marble vanities and TOTO toilets. Building amenities include a landscaped courtyard and roofdeck, gym, doorman, refrigerated lobby storage and on-site parking. The gritty gears on The Industry's website remind us a lot of Williamsburg's SteelWorks Lofts, but let's hope this one fares a bit better.
