The High Line has made stars out of its neighbors, who suddenly have a captive audience of thousands strolling by each and every day. They are artists, and in some cases, they are inanimate objects?like the provocative Armani Exchange billboard at Tenth Avenue and 18th Street. Do a Google image search for "High Line billboard" and you'll see it pop up frequently, but the days of amusing visual juxtapositions are gone. (Actually we're not sure when that ad came down, we just wanted an excuse to run the above photo.) The High Line Blog brings word that a 25-by-75-foot photographic banner was installed yesterday. Called "Jupiter," artist Demetrius Oliver's work will remain on view for a complete lunar cycle, until October 6. Then will someone bring sexy back?
