Among many rather uninteresting looking buildings on the far reaches of the Upper East Side is 409 East 60th Street, which was recently sold to Rockefeller University. With its destruction and replacement by the Rockefellers fast approaching, Scouting NY took a trip to the building and points out that it's not so boring after all?because it's got a secret (and abandoned) rooftop greenhouse! The remains of the greenhouse stretch across the building's entire rooftop, which was once home to a plant store (opened in 1969) that specialized in "plants that survive." For a while.
