And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.
1) Soho: Soho diehards weren't too pleased when Apple took over most of the Post Office building on Prince Street. They weren't happy when Jonas Brothers fans flooded the block for a concert in the store. They weren't happy when the remaining post office in the back of the building closed last year. And they probably won't be happy about the rumor that Apple is taking over that space, too.
2) LES/Chinatown: From the cool store makeovers department, check out what indie designer staple Gargyle did to its boutique at Orchard and Canal Streets. The vibe, we'll have you know, is country club meets urban minimalist.
3) Midtown: A big crowd of half-naked kids lined up outside the 34th Street Desigual store in the rain today to get some free stuff. Here's a suggestion: Go to school!
