Big Reveal: How Much to Live in a Far West Village Prison?

New, 5 comments

And now, the results of this week's PriceSpotter asking price guessing game...

Location: 99 Jane Street, #1D
Asking: $2,995,000

Forbes named the West Village the fifth-most-expensive neighborhood in the country, and we named this apartment the neighborhood's prison. But only because of the bars on the first-floor 4BR/3BA apartment. We're sure everything else about it is rather lovely, like that nice private terrace. Guesses started out way high ($6 million!), maybe because of the Forbes hype, but sanity soon set in. As debate raged over the style of bars and how to price a first-floor apartment, one PriceSpotter cheat looked up the listing and revealed the asking price. We sentence you to solitary confinement in that living room. The apartment last sold for $1.095 million in 1999.
