And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) Midtown: Joe Sitt's Thor Equities bought Fifth Avenue's Takashimaya building and it sounded like Swatch was moving in. Not so! The former department store space will be a Forever 21, but only for six months. Talk about fast fashion!

2) Park Slope: "Park Slope Food Coop Menaced by Hooker Dog Thief." The headline really says it all, don't you think? No? Then read more here.

3) Nolita: After a 200-year run, St. Patrick Old Cathedral School at the corner of Prince and Mott recently shut down. But there is life at the site! Check out the funky yard sale going on in the courtyard, featuring animal sculptures from Mexico.
