Font Fracas!

The reason for the city's sudden and mysterious switch to lowercase street signs has been revealed: lives are at stake, people! The Federal Highway Administration is requiring that all 250,900 street signs in the city be changed because studies show it's harder to read all-caps signs, increasing the likelihood of accidents. The signs also have a new font, meaning that even numbered ones have to be changed. Cost: $110 per sign, for a total of $27.6 million. The full switch won't be finished until 2018. [NYP]
