It's Brooklyn's loveliest potentially illegal landmarked hostel. Brownstoner notices that 70 Lefferts Place, a Civil War-era building that was landmarked in 2006 at the last possible second before its owner brought in the wrecking ball, is now offering bunk beds for $25/night. There's just one snag: the building, which has also faced a lis pendens filing, doesn't have a hotel or rooming house certificate of occupancy. ['Stoner]
