We've always pictured Gilbert Lamphere, the man who purchased #PH-N at 173 Perry Street from Martha Stewart in 2004, as a sort of staid finance type. Not so much. Lamphere's wife, Lucy O'Laughlin, tells the Wall Street Journal, "We call Gil 'captain fun,'" a nickname that translates into the apartment's decor. Lamphere and O'Laughlin decorated the old Martha penthouse with IKEA furniture and playful art, like the above giant bear swinging over the staircase, surrounded by traffic cones. We're no longer quite so puzzled by why even PriceChoppage has yet to sell the place. Still asking $13.9 million.
