Thinking About Buying an Apartment? Red Light!

New, 33 comments

Renting vs. Buying is a debate as old as time itself?God sure was a tough landlord when it came to the Garden of Eden?and now Trulia is bringing it back. The website just published its latest Rent vs. Buy Index, which looked at the median price for two-bedroom apartments (sales and rentals) in America's 50 largest cities. Trulia found that it's more affordable to buy than rent in 72% of those cities right now. Not only does New York City fall into the 28% where renting is the way to go, but it's also the only place to get the big red "much more affordable to rent" dot, which somehow feels like a mark of shame, right? The exodus to Jacksonville starts now!
