Finding Your Slumlord Now (Sort of) Easier With New Site

New, 6 comments

Things that are harder than they should be: identifying the landlord of a New York City apartment building. Inspired by a Village Voice story on tracking down slumlords, a group of web designers called The Great Urban Hack have created Who is My Landlord?, a site that allows users to look up the landlord of any building in the city. (A phone app is apparently next.) We took it for a brief spin, and the site so far contains only the most basic information: the landlord's LLC name and the number of violations against the building. Links to those violations, and more specific information about landlords' identities, would be helpful. Still, it's a potentially useful addition to the pool of slumlord tracking tools.
