We've known it as the Habita Hotel and the Hi Line Hotel, and now we'll know it as something different: the Hotel Americano. That's the official name for the Enrique Norten-designed boutique hotel that's been quietly going up on West 27th Street near the High Line on the former nightclub row. HotelChatter brings news of the naming, and if you're wondering why this 56-room luxury inn has a foreign flavor, it's because this is the first U.S. project from Mexico's Grupo Habita and its Balazs-like design guru, Carlos Couturier. The hotel will open this spring with some funky features, like a mesh outer skin and an exposed elevator that goes right up to the rooftop party deck. ¡Muy caliente!
