The credit crunch halted the Northside Piers complex on the Williamsburg waterfront at just two towers, rather than the planned three. Ever since, we've had only the above rendering to look at and imagine what might have been. But developers are slowly regaining their confidence and taking some old ideas off the shelf, including 3 Northside Piers?with a few modifications. Unlike the first two towers, which were built by Toll Brothers, L&M Development Partners, and RD Management, the third will be built by Edge developer Douglaston Development (still in partnership with L&M and RD), according to Journal. The 500-unit building, a rental, will have fittingly Edge-like amenities: pool, lounge, screening room, weight-training room, business center. (Meanwhile, the third tower at the Edge itself is still on hold.) Prices will be around $55 to $60/square foot, or $3,000 for a 1BR apartment. Douglaston will break ground by March.
