Neighbor Beefs

Carnegie Hill residents are accusing The Spence School's of bad manners over its quiet plans to connect its 22 East 91st Street building to the historic Wanamaker Munn House by means of a three-story, glass-and-steel atrium structure. In classic NIMBY mode, one neighbor tells the Observer why she hates the atrium idea so very, very much: "It will go right past my bedroom and living room windows and sort of consume all the light and air. It will be like 30 feet from my apartment windows." It might just be too late: the design has already been approved by Community Board 8 and the Landmarks Preservation Commission. [NYO; previously]
