The Environmental Protection Agency has revealed the first draft of its plan to clean up the Gowanus Canal, with a very special guest appearance by some migrating liquid tar. The EPA will dredge the canal in three sections, starting at Douglass Street, removing around 500,000 cubic yards of sediment from the canal bottom in order to rid it of contamination, like the (surely you remember?) "black gunk and yellow liquid containing cancer-causing PAHs" dripping out of the Toll Brothers Second Street site. [Park Slope Patch]
