Making good on a three-year-old promise to revamp the city's senior centers, Mayor Bloomberg announced eight new "super centers" starting January 2012, including one catering to the gay community out of the SAGE Center at 305 Seventh Avenue. This will be the nation's first senior center "geared exclusively to gay men and lesbians," though without any of the starchitects or mist discos promised by the proposed gay retirement community for Palm Springs that floated around the 'web earlier this year.
