Someone Actually Just Bought the East Village Mystery Lot

Everything about the East Village Mystery Lot is, duh, mysterious. But here's perhaps its biggest mystery of all: developer Charles Blaichman just paid $33.2 million for the site, according to The Real Deal. We've heard Blaichman's name before, as a partner with Jay-Z and Andre Balazs on the hotel that never happened at 345 West 14th Street, and as a partner with just Balazs on the also in-default 500 West 21st Street. Blaichman's latest move is a puzzling one, but perhaps the failures in Chelsea inspired him to head east. Anyone with intel on what's coming next to the Mystery Lot, head for the tipline. In the meantime, we've got at least one more Halloween to enjoy the mystery.
