Greenpoint's 200 Franklin Street, a 12-story, 17-unit, Karl Fischer finger building, hasn't gotten a lot of love. Not only did an early 200 Franklin tipster have some harsh words, but the building later also inspired some posters dubbing it the Horror of Franklin Street (and it won our Greenpoint ugly-off). But now somebody likes it! In fact, I & G partners recently paid $12.45 million for the building, according to a deal that hit public record today.
We don't see any recent lis pendens filings for the building or any other red flags that might explain a sale. Nor do we see any listings for what were rental units. So the backstory and future plans here remain slightly mysterious. Can anyone clear it up? To the tipline!
