Architecture To The Highest Power

BKSK Architects design more than blue-chip condo buildings—the firm has just completed St. Hilda's House, a convent on West 150th Street. Once described in these pages as "the Wu-Tang Clan of architecture firms" for bouncing between limestone old-school hits and modern-day bangers, the new building is a sustainable, low-profile addition to the brownstone facades of upper Harlem and features some heartwarming details: "Materials such as cork have been used to hush footsteps, and the nuns chose shades of green throughout the interior for a spa-like organic feeling."
