A whopping six years after the city of New York ran a CityLights competition to redesign streetlights, architect Thomas Phifer's sleek design is hitting the sidewalks, at least in Tribeca. It wasn't necessarily the DDC's fault: at the time, LED technology was still cutting-edge and therefore prohibitively expensive. Now they're not!
