A Bushwick building formerly nicknamed "New Jack City" for its rampant violence and dilapidated condition is seeing new life thanks to a group of tenants and a non-profit that rehabs Brooklyn's most uninhabitable residences. The $12 million in funding raised by HPD and Bridge Street paid for apartment renovations at Joshua's Court, plus new elevators, backyard pergolas, a sculpture donated by Chase Bank, and 52 solar panels on the roof to power its hot water.
