The once squeaky-clean, now cracked modernist building at 2 Fifth Avenue is finally undergoing restoration. Back in August 2009, a section of the troubled 1950s white brick building's facade was bulging due to water seepage. The original bricks are now set to be replaced with clay-faced ones. But the building's deterioration goes well beyond bulges; the Times reports 2 Fifth Avenue's terraces, internal drains, roofs, and brick face supports on every floor are all in need of some TLC to the tune of a proposed $30 million restoration budget.
