The long-delayed Steeplechase Plaza project for Coney Island has finally broken ground, four years after designs were first released and more than four decades after Fred Trump tore down the original Steeplechase Amusement Park. The 2.2 acre space will house Coney Island's last historic carousel, saved by the city in 2005, and the Rockwell Group masterplan will include a pavilion, open-air stage, and other retail venues that will get all those visitors to cough up their dough.
