After a failed bid to up the rent and snag a prestige-minded renter, the sprawling Olympic Tower duplex once rented by actress Anne Hathaway's sleazy Italian boyfriend Raffaello Follieri has just had it's price set back at $55,000. A princely sum to be sure, but not out of the ballpark for 7,750 square feet at one of Midtown's most prestigious addresses, and $10K less than the place was asking last week. The history of this sprawling pad, beyond even the tenancy of the Vati-Con scandal's mastermind, may be getting between it and a signed lease. As we discussed last week over on Curbed National, back in the 1980s, it was home to controversial financier Adnan Khashoggi, once presumed to be the richest man in the world and later exposed as something of a faker. Khashoggi later acquitted on racketeering and fraud charges, but in the current climate his style doesn't seem ripe for emulation.
