New Sixth Avenue Rental Tower Will Include Ian Schrager Hotel

New, 8 comments

Durst Fetner Associates took control of the troubled 855 Sixth Avenue site back in January, with plans for a glassy 40-story rental tower designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli. But, as is par for the course when it comes to this plot of land, it sounds like the plans have changed a bit. The Journal reports that Public New York, a 250-room hotel from the one and only Ian Schrager?who's been making lots of New York plans lately?will fill the building's first 16 floors. The building will have a total of 56 stories, with a design by Cook + Fox Architects and groundbreaking scheduled for the spring.

What about the rentals above Schrager's new project? Their tenants will have access to all hotel amenities, but at a price: 1BRs will average around $4,500/month and 2BRs around $6,500/month. The hotel rooms, meanwhile, will be in the range of $300/night.
