Renovations

The much-more-costly-than-expected renovation of City Hall is finally almost over, and DNAinfo paid the building a visit earlier this week. The project is supposed to be done next July, after lots of unfortunate surprises during construction. For example: the plaster fixtures were merely glued in place, the roof tresses were rotted or cracked, and the committee room ceiling was bulging with rot. By the time it's done, the project will have cost $123.8 million, up from an original estimate of $65 million. [DNAinfo]
