The latest 'hood to embrace the new-development-is-back line of the past few months? Greenpoint, and in a big way. The Observer shares the deets today on developer Park Tower Group's ideas for the old Greenpoint Lumber Exchange plot, to which it has had development rights for almost the past 10 years. The plan?brace, neighbors?is for 10 luxury apartment towers with 4,000 units. Those apartments will most likely be rentals, designed by Handel Architects. Park Tower is on the prowl for financing and hopes to break ground, at long last, next year. The Observer has the sense that many community members are on board with the project (which isn't seeking any zoning changes). What say you, Greenpointers?
