Williamsburg's Next Giant, Generic Housing at 204 Wythe

As expected, the giant Williamsburg warehouse property at 204 Wythe Avenue currently housing a carpet factory is going the way of the apartment: Brownstoner reports that an application for a 5-story, 157-unit residential development has been filed with the city, citing none other than big-glass-box architects SLCE as the designers of record. And this is no single-lot eight-unit boutique condo, either: the property encompasses almost the entire block between North 4th and 5th Streets off Wythe towards Kent Avenue. AREA Property Partners snagged the site for $27.5 million, which is buildable up to 165,000 square feet. No word yet on rental or condo, but we're assuming they'll be hyping a few affordable units down the line.
