As it turns out, all the city bodies promoting the competition for the engineering graduate school campus have zero say-so in the final decision: only Mayor Bloomberg will decide the victor between seven competing universities. Christine Quinn describes the project as a "legacy" thing for Bloomberg, and a potential "game-changer for New York City.” No details have been released on the proposals submitted October 28, but surely the gazillions promised by Stanford and Cornell have some clout with a billionaire mayor.
